Tuesday, 10 March #MomsCircleGroup at MEDICLINIC CAPE TOWN will be hosting Mush Perrins, a paediatric occupational therapist as a guest speaker.
The majority of us take sensory processing totally for granted. Our nervous systems process messages from the seven (not five) senses and convert them into appropriate motor and behavioural responses.
Mush says; “Children today are under a lot more pressure and stress than 40 years ago. The pace of life is much faster with more expectations placed on children. For most, both parents need to work. I see many children who are a misfit in their environments. I call them “farm children” because they need space and time to play freely and to get their hands into the earth and dirty. Children can no longer play safely in their community environment or even in their own gardens. Their space and free playtime is restricted.”
We welcome all Moms-to-be and Moms & babes (up to a year old) to come and hear what Mush will share with us regarding sensory processing. Cost is R50, incl delicious refreshments that are served. No booking required.
This is a wonderful cosy space to meet with other Moms and an informative morning! We meet every Tuesday in the maternity lounge on the 3rd floor at 10h30 until 12h30.
