The Parent Centre and UCT Research Project – Making Parenting Easier

The University of Cape Town and The Parent Centre would like to invite parents of children between the ages of 5-12 years, who live in Mitchell’s Plain Westridge, Portlands and Rocklands, to be part of a Positive Parenting Training Research Project. The project will involve 3 interviews and a 7 week Positive Parenting Skills Training. We encourage you to take part in this exciting project and hope that our skills and training will make parenting easier.

The following topics will be covered in the training:

Understanding my child

How to listen to feelings

Building my child’s self esteem

How to get your child to listen and co operate

Discipline

Problem Solving

Our recruitment for this project has already commenced, as we headed out to the specific areas in Mitchells Plain informing parents, caregivers, teachers and principals about this project.
